Lisa trained as a general adult nurse and midwife in Glasgow then latterly as a public health nurse at »¨½·Ö±²¥. Working initially within a health visiting team in East Lothian Lisa’s role was focused on working with families and children from pregnancy to school age, public health initiatives such as aquanatal, breastfeeding support and infant massage, alongside working collaboratively with schools on a healthy school’s initiative with the local primary school. Lisa has always been passionate about facilitating learning and supporting students within her various roles.

In 2007 Lisa had a unique opportunity to take a secondment, through a partnership between NHS Lothian and Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO), teaching student nurses and midwives in Malawi, Africa initially for 2 years, which she extended for a total of 5 years.

On return to Edinburgh, Lisa worked as a health visitor and completed her Practice Teaching qualification, supporting postgraduate students training as health visitors in practice. Lisa began a new role as a lecturer at »¨½·Ö±²¥ in 2015 and was the programme lead for Health Visiting and School Nursing for 6 years.

Lisa has recently completed her Masters in Professional and Higher Education which included her dissertation on the work life balance of the programme leader in higher education.  Working mostly with postgraduate students Lisa is keen to support students who are returning to education and juggling home life and study. As part of her role at »¨½·Ö±²¥, Lisa is a member of the Equality and Diversity Committee and sits on the Bereavement Charter working group. Lisa is the Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) Lead for the Health Visiting programme which has recently been re-accredited at stage 2 for UNICEF BFI.
