Dr Tom Begg

To mark our 150th anniversary, Dr Begg shared his incredible knowledge of The Edinburgh School of Cookery and, more broadly, the Women’s Movement, in a podcast - taking us on a journey from the early days, when groups of eager young women gathered at the Royal Museum of Scotland to learn about cooking, through to our first home at Atholl Crescent, and then onto the war years.

In his interview with Deputy Principal, Professor Richard Butt, Dr Begg introduces us to the founders of the Edinburgh School of Cookery and discusses the significant impact that these women and our institution had on the health of the nation, and opportunities for women.

This is an opportunity to find out some things that you perhaps didn’t know about »¨½·Ö±²¥. We are sure it will give you a newfound appreciation of our history and values, and the pioneering work which has had such a profound impact on our ever-changing society over the years.
